The SAm-1 system was the first South American regional network utilizing DWDM technology, offering more than 1.28 Tbits/sec of undersea capacity on each segment. The network comprises 23,000 km, connecting the United States, Puerto Rico, Guatemala, Brazil, and Argentina on the east coast, and Chile, Peru, Colombia, and Guatemala along the west coast of South America.
